Letters: Sensible confrontation at the IAB conference

Platform: iTV | Author: Phil Teer, planning partner, St Luke's | Source: NMA magazine | Published: 27.11.08

This year's IAB conference was my first so I thought I'd share some 'visitor from another planet' impressions.

The whole thing was gloriously young, and confrontational: the writer Matt Mason talked about learning from copyright pirates and the excellent Justin Billingsly from Orange boldly declared that he was going "100% digital". There was also a refreshing lack of big egos and stuffed suits on show.

The theme was 'who is in control?'. I'm still none the wiser as to that question,
...

... but I came away feeling a line had been drawn between mainstream marketing and the internet, and clearly all the energy is on this side of the digital divide.
